The Federal Ministry of Transport is assuming a financial burden of over 700 million Euros for the rehabilitation of highways, roads and bridges damaged or completely destroyed by the flood disaster a week ago. This emerges from a situation assessment by the ministry.
Meanwhile, the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief has announced that people should be better sensitized to dealing with extreme weather. The fact that a small stream could overflow its banks within a short time as a result of climate change, and the might that the masses of water could exert in such a case has not yet reached many people.
