(de-news.net) – Police have announced operations in several federal states today to inspect vehicles belonging to the car tuning scene. Large-scale operations by officers were previously announced for the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Saxony-Anhalt, among others. The police want to use the checks to combat speeding and illegal modifications.

For many years, car tuners have turned the religious holiday of Good Friday into “Car Friday.” They meet on this self-defined occasion to show off their cars.

During last year’s police checks, almost 3,000 violations were reported and around 4,000 fines were issued in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia alone. The state’s Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) explained that he has nothing against lowered cars – as long as road safety is guaranteed. He emphasized that it is important that all road users arrive home safely.
